With its emphasis on service and low-cost business, IndiGo has truly revolutionised the Indian aviation sector. In fact, the airline has secured a market share of 40 percent among Indian fliers, making it the most popular airline in the country. This popularity has allowed the company to rapidly expand the number of IndiGo flights and planes, increasing the fleet size to over 100 by 2012.

One important aspect of the company's business model is its economy-only seating plan. There are no business or first-class seats on IndiGo flights, just comfortable economy class berths with ample storage space. Instead of a few people receiving first-class services, passengers can prebook additional services or pay less and enjoy a no frills service. It all means that if you need to travel cheaply and have to book flights to India, the airline is one of the first places to look.

IndiGo (6E/IGO)

IndiGo is India's leading low-cost airline, and their flights are a great way to transfer from international routes to a huge range of domestic destinations. A relatively new entrant into Asia's low-cost aviation sector, the company was only founded in 2006 by entrepreneur Rahul Bhatia. Now it runs over 800 flights every day, covering 40 destinations. 35 of these destinations are in India, but 5 are international airports, and there are plans to expand the firm's international routes in the future.
