Jet Airways (9W/JAI)

The Mumbai-based airline, Jet Airways started life as an air taxi service in 1993, launching its first scheduled service a year later when aviation in India was deregulated. Its founder, Naresh Goyal, quickly turned the airline into India's most popular domestic carrier. London was the airline's first long-haul destination, starting in 2005. After forming a partnership with Kingfisher Airlines in 2008, the airline went on to become India's busiest operator in terms of passengers carried. After the Indian government allowed foreign investment in its airlines a quarter of its stake was sold to Etihad in 2013.
