Lufthansa (LH/DLH)

The German flag-carrier Lufthansa has a long history dating back to 1926. The original company was dissolved by the Allies after the Second World War and relaunched in 1953 using the original crane logo and blue and gold colours of the pre-war airline. After two years of planning the first scheduled flights took off on 1st April 1955. Two Convair craft flew from Hamburg to Munich and once again Lufthansa was in the air. International routes were soon added, its fleet was continually expanded and the company began its growth to the successful position it enjoys today. It is now a profitable airline with 540 subsidiaries, such as Germanwings and Austrian Airlines, operating worldwide.
