  • Where to see the tulips? Amsterdam places to admire them - Jetcost
A city on a human scale, welcoming, picturesque and colourful. Amsterdam, an ideal destination in all seasons of the year. Each period has its own particularity.

We suggest you to visit Amsterdam during the Spring when the city becomes colourful and festively dressed. The beginning of this season coincides with the blossoming of Amsterdam's famous tulips. This famous flower, originally from the Ottoman Empire, was introduced in the early 17th century by Dutch merchants and still plays an important role in the Dutch economy today.

Before going into the subject in more detail and recommending events and markets not to be missed in the city, start checking out the fares for flights to Amsterdam for the next Spring (the best time is mid-April). Don't miss out on the best price to pick up and start planning your trip on Dutch soil!
Amsterdam

You'll be spoilt for choice, you'll see tulips everywhere, you'll be greeted by a fragrant and colourful atmosphere!

What places not to miss to admire the tuilps?

-Bloemenmarkt: also known as Singel's floating flower market. Here in fact, at any time you will come to Amsterdam, you will find many stalls floating along the canal and offering all kinds of colours and scents. Of course, during the tulip season, you won't have any trouble finding all kinds of flowers on these stalls!

-Secret gardens: the city of Amsterdam jealously guards a number of canalside gardens of unparalleled beauty. Do you want to discover these delightful places full of flowers and closed for most of the year?

Then you'll have to go to Amsterdam during the Open Garden Days. Plan your visit in advance!

-Tulip Museum: inside, in the Jordaan district of Amsterdam, you can discover the Dutch floriculture history and learn more about this magical and shining flower.

-Tulip Festival: every year the city of Amsterdam organizes a festival to celebrate this flower, which is one of the symbols of the country. So in every street, square, public place, museum and meeting point a mania breaks out and you can see tulips everywhere!

But tulips are not only visible in Amsterdam, on the contrary...! Outside the city you'll find the bollenstreek, areas used for growing bulbs where expanses of colourful soil will fill your eyes with colour.

-Vogelenzang: From March 21 to May 20 you can visit the Tulip Park in Vogelenzang (not far from Haarlem) and admire many different species of this flower.

Imagine that the Dutch Horticultural Society has divided the tulips into groups each containing more than one species! In addition, there is also a museum of the history of bulbs here!

-Keukenhof: welcome to Lisse, you have arrived in the most famous garden of Holland where before your eyes will appear an endless expanse of colorful tulips and more. Here are about 7 million bulb flowers! Also this one obviously has an opening limited to the flowering period. Inside the park there are about 15 kilometers of paths to be covered pampered by the pleasant spring climate.

-Aalsmeer: this location (not too far from Schipol airport) is, instead, an ideal destination for those who love to attend flower auctions. The FloraHolland is certainly a fun visit suitable for the most curious.

In addition to these must-see stops in the city and outside, you should know that Amsterdam is full of greenery, gardens and expanses of flowers ... everywhere! In the city you'll find the Vondelpark, the Hortus Botanicus and the Amsterdam Forest (Amsterdamse Bos), all of which are perfect settings for a day in complete harmony with nature.

You can also rent a bike or get on the first train that passes by to get away from the city centre and discover the countryside around Amsterdam covered in a mantle of delight.

Don't forget to take your camera with you: every corner and every glimpse will give you a picturesque view to keep forever.

Have a good trip!
