Today Korean Air is one of the world's top 20 airlines with 460 flights every day to 129 destinations in 46 countries. It is only one of 12 airlines in the world that fly to all six inhabited continents while Korean Air flights cover more cities in America and Asia than any other Asian airline. The airline's main hubs are at Incheon International Airport and Gimpo International Airport, both of which are in the Seoul district. The airline was a founding member of the SkyTeam Alliance, now the second-largest in the world after the Star Alliance.
The Korean Air livery is a white and pale blue fuselage finished with a red and navy tail decal. South Korea and its capital city Seoul are becoming increasingly popular as both a tourist and business destination. Whatever your reason for visiting you're sure to find attractive prices on flights to South Korea. The airline has an excellent reputation for customer service that includes:
Korean Air flights are operated with a fleet of 138 passenger aircraft that are constantly being updated. These range from the wide-bodied Airbus 380 and Boeing 747 craft to smaller Boeing 737 and Airbus A330 planes. The airline offers three business or Prestige classes and two economy classes.
The airline started life as Korean National Airlines in 1946 but was in decline by the late 1960s. Once taken over by the private Hanjin Group and remarketed as Korean Air the airline went from strength to strength, opening its first transpacific passenger route in 1971. Routes to America were added in the 1980s and destinations to Russia came on board over the next ten or so years. In 2004, it celebrated 35 years of aviation with a fresh new look and a new slogan, Excellence in Flight. Today the airline is recognised for the quality of its service not just by domestic passengers but also by its loyal following of international customers.
