The airline was a founding member of the SkyTeam Alliance, now the second-largest in the world after the Star Alliance.

Korean Air (KE/KAL)

The airline started life as Korean National Airlines in 1946 but was in decline by the late 1960s. Once taken over by the private Hanjin Group and remarketed as Korean Air the airline went from strength to strength, opening its first transpacific passenger route in 1971. Routes to America were added in the 1980s and destinations to Russia came on board over the next ten or so years. In 2004, it celebrated 35 years of aviation with a fresh new look and a new slogan, Excellence in Flight. Today the airline is recognised for the quality of its service not just by domestic passengers but also by its loyal following of international customers.
